Jens Lundgren, MD, DMSc, Professor, Senior Consultant in Infectious Diseases, Academic Chair, Director
Dr. Jens Lundgren is a professor of infectious diseases and senior consultant at Rigshospitalet, where he also founded and directs CHIP – an internationally recognized Centre of Excellence for Research on Health, Immunity, and Infections. He also leads PERSIMUNE, a Centre of Excellence for Personalized Medicine in Infectious Complications Among Immunocompromised Individuals. Dr. Lundgren is Executive Committee member and Scientific Steering Committee Chair, INSIGHT Network (NIH/NIAID-funded), Member, American Society of Clinical Investigation and Association of American Physicians, and Honorary life-long member, IAPAC.
Initially focused on HIV, Dr. Lundgren's research has evolved to encompass respiratory infections, including tuberculosis, influenza, and SARS-CoV-2, and infectious complications in individuals with immune dysfunction, such as organ transplant recipients, patients with cancer, hematological disorders, and autoimmune diseases.
CHIP’s multidisciplinary team uses real-world big data to investigate the mechanisms driving differential risk of infections among people with impaired immunity. The CHIP cohort includes people living with HIV, transplant recipients, and other immunocompromised populations.
Dr. Lundgren has authored over 890 peer-reviewed publications, with more than 52,000 citations and an H-index of 101.
