Biography

Francesca Basile, MD MSc, is a pediatrician specializing in infectious diseases and a clinical researcher at the University of Oxford. With a background in epidemiology and global public health, she has co-led pediatric TB diagnostic and implementation studies in East Africa and Peru. She previously worked with the Texas Children's Hospital–Baylor International Pediatric AIDS Initiative in Uganda. Trained in Italy, she holds an MSc from LSHTM, a Postgraduate Diploma from Oxford, and a Diploma in Tropical Medicine from the Royal College of Physicians. Her research focuses on optimizing TB diagnostics and equitable care pathways for children in high-burden settings through user-centered approaches.
