Biography

Dr. Farzana is a medical doctor and an early career female health system researcher in Bangladesh. Currently, she holds the position of ‘Divisional TB Expert’ at national TB control program (NTP) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Bangladesh. Her research work is focused on neglected diseases like TB and emerging infections like COVID-19 where she coordinates the diagnostic and treatment facilities for both diseases specially for the disadvantaged group and help the policy makers for priority settings by policy brief and national program dissemination as well as drafting the national guidelines.

Enhancing TB treatment outcomes: The role of nutrition education and micronutrient supplementation on immunological markers and quality of life in peri-urban Bangladesh

This study highlights that while micronutrient supplementation and nutrition education may not lead to significant outcomes in all parameters, they positively impact the nutritional status, immune function, and QoL of TB patients. Raising awareness about nutrition and integrating it into TB treatment strategies could play a vital role in improving health outcomes and controlling TB in resource-poor settings.
