Revisiting index contact households: Evidence for structured repeat testing among TB contacts in Khana LGA, Rivers state Nigeria

The findings underscore the critical need for repeat testing at 9 and 12 months post-exposure to capture delayed TB onset. This timing aligns with the completion of TB preventive therapy (TPT) and enables early detection among high-risk individuals. To reduce household transmission and undiagnosed TB burden, national programs must institutionalize structured follow-up protocols, enhance TB awareness, and explore the integration of digital tools for longitudinal contact surveillance.
