Biography

Professor Halpin is Professor of Respiratory Medicine at the University of Exeter, UK, and at the Observational and Pragmatic Research Institute, Singapore. He is a member of the GOLD Board of Directors and Science Committee, and previously chaired the development of the NICE COPD Guideline. He also serves on the GARD Steering Committee and the FIRS Executive Board.
He trained in medicine at Oxford University and St Thomas’ Hospital Medical School, and completed a D.Phil. in Human Anatomy at Oxford. His research focuses on COPD, and he has published extensively and lectures globally on respiratory disease management.
