Biography

Dan O’Brien is an Adjunct Professor in the Departments of Fisheries and Wildlife and Large Animal Clinical Sciences at Michigan State University (MSU) in East Lansing, USA. He holds doctoral degrees in Veterinary Medicine and Epidemiology from MSU. He retired in 2021 after 22 years with the Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR) as veterinarian and epidemiologist at the Wildlife Disease Laboratory. His responsibilities included investigation, surveillance, and research of wildlife diseases, particularly bovine tuberculosis in deer, as well as formulation, implementation and evaluation of practical control policies. He also provided clinical support for MDNR’s field biology, wildlife research and forensic science programs (https://orcid.org/0000-0001-7694-0806).
