Biography

Courtney Yuen is an epidemiologist and Associate Professor at the Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School. Her research focuses on understanding and addressing barriers to accessing TB services and on models for person-centered care. She has worked with programs in Peru, Kenya, Pakistan, and the United States to improve TB case detection and preventive treatment.

Overall, people with TB in Lima, Peru identified community treatment and conditional cash transfers as the most important forms of treatment support, but neither was acceptable to everyone, and their relative priority varied. Offering a choice between the two would promote patient-centered care by giving each person a form of support they prioritize.
