Biography

Cong-Minh Nguyen holds an MSc. degree in Epidemiology from LMU Munich. He previously worked with high-TB-incident communities in southern Vietnam, implementing active case-finding programmes through chest camps and routine local screening. During this time, he gained an appreciation for the real-life "stories" behind data. Cong-Minh's research interests include infectious disease diagnosis, systematic screening, treatment, and epidemiology.

Severity of TB disease in people diagnosed through systematic screening

Most HHCs diagnosed through screening appear to have advanced disease, evidenced by at least medium Xpert MTB/Rif positivity (equivalent to smear-positive TB) and CAD4TB(v8) scores. During treatment, most HHCs saw increased BMI. A limitation of this study is the lack of a comparator group.
