Biography
Dr Claudio Köser is a visiting scientist at the Department of Genetics, University of Cambridge. He serves as a consultant to WHO, the TB Alliance, and the diagnostic industry, with a primary focus on applying modern microbiological principles to define susceptibility and resistance to anti-TB agents, both phenotypically and genotypically. His work has led to the identification of critical flaws in WHO breakpoints for several first- and second-line drugs, revealing systematic misclassification of resistant strains as susceptible. Dr Köser collaborates closely with EUCAST and pharmaceutical developers to improve susceptibility testing standards for new TB treatments.
