Key Impacts

Enhancing TB case-holding through effective pre-treatment and continuous counselling in Delta State, Nigeria

Structured counseling interventions and active follow-up significantly enhance TB treatment outcomes. Strengthening case-holding at the point of diagnosis through skilled counseling, adherence support, and timely tracking—can reduce LTFU, minimize TB transmission, and improve survival. Sustained investment in human resources and patient-centered care strategies remains essential to achieving national TB control targets.

Improved treatment success rate among drug-susceptible people with TB through pre-treatment and routine counselling addressing stigmatisation in Delta State, Nigeria

Targeted pre-treatment and routine-counselling addressing stigmatization significantly improved treatment outcomes. This patient-centered approach is a scalable, low-cost strategy for addressing stigma-related barriers and should be integrated into national TB programs, particularly within PPM models and high-burden settings.
