Key Impacts

Carbohydrate dominance and gender inequity in diets of TB-affected households in India

This cohort's diet reflects a triple concern: gendered nutritional inequity, low diversity, and poor dietary quality despite perceived food security. Interventions must address macronutrient imbalance, incorporate regionally appropriate counseling, and ensure women are not nutritionally disadvantaged. Increased focus on dietary diversity is also critical since micronutrient deficiencies are associated with increased TB progression. These insights can help optimize basket design.
