Biography
Camus Nimmo is a respiratory medicine consultant in London and an honorary associate professor at UCL. His work combines clinical, microbiological and genomic analyses of drug-resistant tuberculosis using data from contemporary clinical cohorts as well as publicly available genomic data, with a particular focus on emerging resistant to new and repurposed agents.
Key Impacts
Baseline and emergent delamanid and pretomanid resistance in people exposed to delamanid in KwaZulu-Natal, South Africa
In this cohort of culture-positive patients initiating bedaquiline and delamanid treatment, there were high rates of nitroimidazole resistance. Delamanid resistance was more common than pretomanid resistance, but in isolation did not nescessarily to lead to poor outcomes when accompanied by combination therapy. Two cases of persistent culture positivity were associated with acquired delamanid resistance.
