Biography

Byiringiro Rusisiro is a medical doctor with a master’s degree in field epidemiology and over 14 years of national-level experience in the National TB Program and the National HIV, Viral, and STIs Program. Since 2017 to date, he has served as Director of the Tuberculosis Infection Control and Prevention Unit in Rwanda’s National TB Program. He possesses strong expertise in health program design, strategic planning, implementation, monitoring, and evaluation.

Prevalence and risk factors of latent tuberculosis infection in Rwanda, 2024

One in four individuals has LTBI in Rwanda. Male sex, age 35–44, history of imprisonment, and chronic diseases were significantly associated with LTBI. These findings highlight the need of targeted prevention strategies for high-risk groups, to reduce further TB transmission.
