Key Impacts

Strengthening public-private mix (PPM) for TB case finding: Expanding the role of private healthcare providers in Nigeria

A structured PPM model effectively increased TB case detection. Key achievements include improved sample referral, expanded diagnostics, and enhanced provider engagement. Sustaining incentives, expanding molecular diagnostics, and strengthening policy integration are critical for long-term success. Collaboration between government and private providers remains essential to achieving Nigeria’s TB detection targets.

Closing the gap in paediatric TB detection: Innovative approaches to improve case finding among children in Nigeria

The integration of innovative diagnostics, targeted outreach, and digital tools has improved paediatric TB detection under GC7. Progress has been made; however, achievements still fall short of the 10% national target. Expanding access to stool-based GeneXpert, strengthening community-based active case-finding, and improving sample transport networks will be critical in closing the detection gap and achieving national childhood TB notification targets.
