Biography

Ben Gern is a Principal Investigator at Seattle Children’s Research Institute and an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at the University of Washington. His lab focuses on the mechanistic dissection of spatially resolved host-pathogen interactions during Mycobacterium tuberculosis infection. Through the use of relevant mouse models, human tissues, advanced immunologic tools, and cutting-edge quantitative imaging, the Gern Lab investigates what factors orchestrate immune cell positioning and function within the pulmonary TB lesion, with the ultimate goal of informing the design of improved vaccines and host-directed therapies.
