Biography

I have been working with mycobacteria since joining icddr,b as an intern in 2022. Since then, I transitioned to a Research Officer role within the Mycobacteriology laboratory while pursuing and earning a Master’s degree in biotechnology from Brac University. My research focuses on identifying host- and pathogen-derived biomarkers to enhance tuberculosis diagnostics, with an emphasises on addressing challenges associated with paucibacillary forms of tuberculosis, where conventional methods often fall short. I aim to contribute to global efforts in enhancing early, accurate, and minimally invasive diagnostic approaches.

Advancing extrapulmonary TB diagnosis and treatment monitoring with RISK6 transcriptomic biomarker

Our initial findings indicate that the RISK6 signature performance for EPTB effectively meets the WHO’s biomarker test criteria in the TPP. RISK6 testing offers a promising development in EPTB diagnosis through a minimally invasive and accessible approach, particularly for challenging cases with insufficient evidence for biopsy. Furthermore, its post-treatment performance highlights a potential role in aiding clinicians to better elucidate treatment outcomes.
