Biography

Andrew Codlin is the M&E and Research Director for Friends for International TB Relief (FIT). He is currently based in Ho Chi Minh City, Viet Nam, where he primarily supervises FIT's data collection and reporting systems which are used for both program and research activities. He previously worked in Karachi, Pakistan running private-sector engagement programs and in Geneva, Switzerland helping to run the Stop TB Partnership's TB REACH initiative. Andrew is currently a PhD student at the Karolinska Institutet and holds a MPH from the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.

Pooled testing for TB: A cost-saving strategy with trade-offs in detection sensitivity

Pooled testing can significantly reduce the workload and costs of diagnostic testing for TB. However, these savings should be reinvested to expand screening and testing coverage to offset the reduction in TB detection associated with this approach. Pooled testing may not be appropriate in settings where early and sensitive detection of all people with TB is vital.
