This is the first global survey of current policies regarding tuberculosis screening, diagnosis, and treatment in prisons. Results suggest that, while many countries have prison-specific tuberculosis management guidelines, challenges in this setting hinder implementation. Furthermore, heterogeneity in responses across and within countries suggests variation in policy implementation.
