Key Impacts
Clinical safety of levofloxacin for contacts of multidrug-resistant TB: Insights from the VQUIN trial
Levofloxacin was safe for MDR-TB contacts, with very few adverse events greater than or equal to grade 3 reported. Most adverse events were mild to moderate, and musculoskeletal events were the most common. Close follow-up during the first month of treatment is crucial to monitor and manage any adverse events promptly. Further research evaluating strategies to minimise musculoskeletal symptoms may improve treatment adherence and completion rates.
