Biography

Dr. Alex Zimmer is an epidemiologist with postgraduate training from Johns Hopkins University (MSPH) and McGill University (PhD). Her doctoral thesis investigated multiple dimensions of cough analysis—from acoustic signatures to longitudinal temporal patterns in cough counts—to highlight the potential of cough as a diagnostic biomarker and identify key barriers preventing the successful integration of cough-based tools into clinical practice. In 2024, she joined Dr. Claudia Denkinger's team at Heidelberg University as a postdoctoral fellow, where she works on advancing digital health solutions for TB screening.
