Biography

Dr. Afom T. Andom is a global health professional with extensive experience in clinical and public health systems in five sub-Saharan African countries. Dr. Afom has been working with Partners In Health Lesotho for the last eight years, first as a national health reform technical advisor in health system strengthening capacity. Currently, Dr. Afom is working as a Chief Medical Officer for PIH Lesotho, overseeing the overall clinical programs and the design and implementation of projects. Dr. Afom oversees the national drug-resistant TB and implementation of TB projects in primary health facilities in Leostho.

Implementing a sensitive TB screening algorithm with live data performance monitoring in remote, hard-to-reach health facilities was highly effective in improving TB detection. Investing in staff, systems (CAD, GIS), and stuff (digital x-rays, diagnostics) can improve TB detection.
