Closing the diagnostic gap: How Nigeria’s optimised sample transport networks boosted TB detection by 105%: A model for scale-up?

Optimizing sample movement logistics with trained riders and tailored incentives significantly improved TB case detection and reduced diagnostic delays in Kano State, particularly in hard-to-reach areas. This model addresses a critical health system barrier identified in the WHO’s 2023–2027 TB Strategy and Nigeria’s UHC agenda. To sustain gains, we recommend: scaling the incentive-based transport system nationally, integrating GPS tracking for real-time monitoring, and deploying decentralized molecular platforms in priority LGAs.
