Biography
Dr Abiola Alege is a seasoned public health physician and epidemiologist with over 10 years' experience in planning, implementation and evaluation of interventions to strengthen national & sub-national health systems. Abiola is a fellow of the National PostGraduate Medical College of Nigeria, and also a Member of West Africa College of Physicians, Faculty of Public Health & Community Medicine. She has worked with diverse groups of people to tackle various issues of public health concerns especially key and vulnerable communities in low resource settings.

Prevalence of TB among people with substance abuse disorder: Lessons on collaboration with traditional mental health homes for TB detection in Southwest Nigeria
This intervention shows a high prevalence of Tuberculosis among persons who suffer from substance abuse disorder and its implication for public wellbeing. Collaboration and effective engagement with traditional mental health home in TB endemic region shows promise as a replicable model for high-risk population in the End TB strategy especially in communities where cultural beliefs influence the general health seeking behavior of the people.

Multi-sectoral targeted screening for childhood TB cases is a highly effective and efficient way of reaching out to children who may not present in health facilities as they are presumed to be healthy, sustaining this collaboration can help reduce child mortality due to Tuberculosis.
